FUNDRAISING FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Why do we fundraise as seniors? What exactly are we fundraising for?
As juniors last year, our main responsibility was to fundraise for and throw the best prom possible. As seniors, we fundraise primarily to fund our Senior Class Trip and any other class-sponsored activities. This means that ALL money raised during the 2014-2015 school year is 100% FOR US.
Is this the same thing as fundraising for Project Graduation?
No. Although it is common for seniors and parents to be involved in both organizations, the LHS Class of 2015 and LHS Project Graduation Class of 2015 are separate entities and the monies fundraised by each organization are used differently. Project Graduation is a non-profit organization put together by amazingly hardworking and dedicated senior parents. All proceeds of Project Graduation fundraisers are intended to cover costs relating to the overnight lock-in that occurs right after graduation. The two main differences between our organizations are that:
- While our cause is the same (Class of 2015), our proceeds do not overlap and are not pooled into the same account. All money fundraised by Project Graduation goes toward Project Graduation expenses and money fundraised by the LHS Class of 2015 goes towards our class trip.
- The LHS Class of 2015, its officers and its events are school-sponsored (there is a teacher or school sponsor present at all events, all proceeds go into account managed by the school, etc).
How will the money fundraised by the LHS Class of 2015 be used exactly? What is our goal?
Our plan is to fundraise enough money to cover transportation costs related to our class trip. To accommodate the transportation of 100-150 lucky seniors, our goal is to fundraise $15,000. Last year, we raised over $10,000 for prom with $0 in our account. We can do this!
Do I have to help or volunteer if I want to go on the trip?
We understand that as seniors we have AP tests to study for and extracurricular activities/jobs after school. We have a stressful time balancing our priorities, and one more thing to worry about may just tip us over the edge! But this is our last year -- it is likely we may not see each other until many years from now, and working together towards a common cause will not only forge new memories but also help us achieve our goal. If you can't help, we understand! But those seniors who consistently help during our events and fundraisers and accumulate volunteer hours will be given reserved spots on our trip. Spaces are limited, so we hope to encourage all hard-working seniors to come together and help us make this happen!
I'm a senior parent. What can I do to help?
We were very fortunate last year to have AMAZING help from our parents -- without them, our fundraising efforts would have surely crumbled! In the past, parents have helped by suggesting ideas, organizing fundraiser events and volunteering at fundraisers. If you would like to help our cause, please consider joining the Parent E-mail List for e-mail updates or you can e-mail the sponsor directly at [email protected]. We are very approachable, eager to work for our seniors and open to all suggestions.
